The ticket arrived by email, but before the trip the question remains: is it enough to show the ticket on your phone? The answer is determined by the conditions of your bus trip. Electronic purchasing does not always mean the same boarding procedure for all carriers. Check the instructions on the ticket in advance and prepare the document so that it opens without connection.
Distinguish a ticket from a payment confirmation
After the purchase, you can receive several messages: a receipt, order confirmation, route information and the ticket itself. A bank receipt shows payment, but by itself is not always suitable for boarding. Find the document with the passenger, route, date and trip ID. If the ticket has not yet been issued or the status is unclear, contact the seller before departure.
Check the name, direction, exact pick-up address, date and local time. For night travel, check your arrival date separately. The article about time zones talks about how to avoid time confusion. If the data is incorrect, use ticket correction procedure rather than editing the file yourself.

Check how to present your ticket
Read the instructions on the ticket itself and the email. Check if the PDF is accepted on the phone, if the original code is needed in the app, if a paper copy or exchange of the voucher is required before boarding. If the requirements are unclear, ask the carrier a specific question: “Can I present this file on my phone at the designated stop?”
A screenshot is only acceptable if the carrier accepts it. For a code that changes dynamically, a static photo may not be suitable. Even with a paper copy, passenger documents may be needed: a ticket does not replace an identity card and documents for crossing the border. Check them separately for your route.
Prepare the file without the Internet
Download the document to your phone, then disconnect for a short time and check if it opens. A link to an email or cloud file is not a saved copy if the content requires downloading. If there are multiple passengers in a document, make sure that all pages and codes are available, not just the first one.
Name the file so that you can find it among your downloads: the date and direction are usually more convenient than an incomprehensible number. Leave the original without changing the passenger's name, date, code and other data. When updating a ticket, remove any confusion by keeping the current version in a clear place and marking the old one as invalid.
- Check the readability of text and code without high magnification.
- Charge your phone and external battery.
- Save the carrier contact separately from the ticket.
- Prepare a paper version, if required by the conditions.
If you are traveling with a family, distribute the documents so that the absence of one phone does not deprive everyone of access. Give copies only to your passengers or a trusted companion. Publicly shared ticket links create unnecessary risk of data exposure.
Show your ticket calmly and safely
Before approaching the employee, open the required page. Set the brightness sufficiently and do not cover the code with your fingers. Explain if the ticket contains multiple passengers. If there is a problem with reading, show the document number and ask about the provided verification method; don't change the code or create your own "fixed" version.
Check the carrier and destination before handing over your luggage. Having an electronic ticket does not change the registration rules and recommended arrival time. At a large station, finding a platform takes time, and boarding may end before the scheduled departure due to the conditions of the bus route.
If the phone is dead or the file is missing
Use a prepared backup copy or contact the seller. Give the order reference and passenger details through the official channel. The ability to check by booking number depends on the carrier; You cannot promise boarding without a document. Don’t expect that there will definitely be a power outlet, printer or stable Internet nearby.
If you lose your phone, protect access to your accounts and start searching for lost items. If you missed boarding due to a problem with your document, check options after being late. The best backup plan is simple: a confirmed ticket format, offline access, and a carrier contact at hand.
